Dermatology refers to the study of the skin. The skin is the largest organ in the human body that acts as a shield. The skin has various different uses for the human body, as it provides protection against microorganisms. The skin is the physical barrier between the human body and the external environment. Dermatology is a medical term concerned with diagnosing and treatment of skin conditions on the body. 

Specialists in dermatology are referred to as Dermatologists. There are different fields of dermatology, the most popular one being medical dermatology. Medical Dermatologists include diagnosing skin problems, dealing with medical treatments such as dermatitis. Another field of dermatologists are Surgical dermatologists, dealing with treating and removing skin lesions. Cosmetic dermatology focuses on the cosmetic treatment of skin, hair, and nail conditions. This can include laser treatments, hair implants, botox, etc. 

There are many known skin conditions, a common one being acne. Acne is a broad statement, there are many different types of acne in someone’s skin. Different acne such as cysts, nodules, etc may require medical treatment to be officially healed. 

A big skin care tip is to wear sunscreen. Sunscreen prevents hyperpigmentation, skin cancer, and prevents skin damage. Sunscreen is the most important step in your skincare step as it prevents skin cancer from developing in your middle ages. 

Dermatology is one of the most fascinating terms to learn in the medicine world, as it protects our largest organ and provides protection for the skin.
